CV Help - How to write a CV- TIP six – Third Person CV
How to write a CV
A professional CV Writing Service should always compose your CV in the third person format and when writing your own CV this Tip should be adhered to.
CVs are not written in a style that would be used for normal letter or report writing, there is an accepted manner of Successfully Writing a CV and the usual rules of grammar do not apply (although spelling most certainly does).
A first person approach will usually result in you writing most sentences with “I”: “I managed this”, “ I had 12 direct reports”, “I achieved this”. Pretty soon, the layout of your CV looks highly repetitive and uninteresting. Additionally, the tone can sound more than a little boastful.
However, a third person approach eliminates both of these problems: “managed accounts department with 12 direct reports” conveys the details far more succinctly. It can also help to remove the self conscious aspect and will help you think of yourself differently, almost as though you are an agent writing a compelling CV for someone whom you know very well.
